French CMA CGM together with Brooklyn-Kyiv will take part in the reconstruction of two berths of the Odessa port 07.12.2018

SE “Administration of Seaports of Ukraine” (AMPU), SE “Odessa Sea Commercial Port” (OSPP) and “Brooklyn-Kyiv Port” with the participation of French company CMA CGM, 3rd in the world container carrier, signed on Friday in France Memorandum of Understanding, reported Mininfrastructure.

“The memorandum signed today gives hope that in the near future a large-scale infrastructure project will be implemented in the Odesa Sea Port, which will ensure attraction of investments into infrastructure development, increase of cargo turnover and number of ship measures in the OSPP,” added Volodymyr Omelyan, Minister of Infrastructure present at the signing.

The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure said that the authorities of Ukraine are interested in attracting investments in the port industry, in the near future, expect container container transportation through Ukrainian ports to increase.

CMA CGM Group is a shipping shipping company headquartered in Marseille. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, it is the largest in France and the third largest container carrier in the world with a total deadweight of 2.208 million TEUs, operating a fleet of 445 ships and serving more than 420 ports worldwide.

The Stevedoring Company “Brooklyn-Kyiv” operates the berths of the Bread Harbor of the Odessa port since September 1994. Specialization: Transshipment of grain cargoes in bulk, metal products, ore cargoes, containers.

Brooklyn-Kyiv in 2017 processed 155 ships and 5,095 million tons of cargo. Among its strategic clients are ADM-ASTI, Louis Dreyfus, CMA CGM, Metinvest Holding Ltd., Interpipe-Ukraine LLC.

According to the company’s website, its container terminal began operations in October 2006. It is located at the rear of the berths 42-43 and occupies more than 10 hectares. The length of the berth line allows you to receive and handle container vessels of up to 300 m in length and with a capacity of 10,622 thousand TEU. The main partners of the container terminal are CMA CGM and COSCO SHIPPING.

Brooklyn-Kyiv is also completing the construction of a new grain-handling complex with a capacity of 4 million tons, which is associated with the construction of the berth №1-s in OSPP. According to the port, under favorable conditions, the joint construction of facilities with the simultaneous introduction of them into operation should be completed in the third quarter of 2019.

Odessa seaport is located in the southwestern part of the Gulf of Odessa. The number of cargo berths is 31, the length of the cargo berth front is 6.29 km.

According to the register of AMPU, the port is operated by SE “KhTO”, LLC “Brooklyn-Kiev”, LLC “Metalluzukrane Korp”, LLC “Novolog”, LLC “Olympex Coupe International”, LLC “Novotek-Terminal”, LLC “UNSK”, PJSC “DPSKU” Odessa Grain Terminal “and other port operators.

Odessa Sea Port in 2017 has reduced turnover in comparison with 2016 by 4.4% – up to 24.136 million tons. The share of the port in the cargo turnover of Ukrainian seaports was 18.2% versus 19.1% in 2016.
