ADVANTAGES OF A BULK SHIPMENT OVER CONTAINER SHIPPING

Current container ocean rates market is still booming and signs are not clear yet. Some experts declare that market will fall down once Holidays in China are over – while others declare completely opposite scenario. In any case we do not want business of our customers to suffer because of sky high container market rates – thus as a solution we are offering to customer bulk shipments instead container shipments. Subject option is way cheaper in compare to container market – thus those buyers who will be using it nowadays will have much stronger positions at Ukraine market then those who are still stick to containers. Currently we see difference in container and bulk about 80-100 USD per mt – it means customer using balk shipments will be able to make additional profit while container customers will bear additional expenses or even have risks to lose market share.

 

 Up till we have shipped parcels on two different vessels and another one so far under loading. Two more vessels are coming in March (we are working on two sailings from China to Ukraine at mid of March and end of March/beg of April) – thus we would be happy to assist our customers for offers in such logistics scheme.

 

 

Briefly about bulk shipments.

 

Advantages:

 

– for the current market bulk option can be cheaper about on USD 80-100 per mt then container option;

 

– no risks shipments to be delayed because of shortage empty container or space on container vessels;

 

– rather cheap cost of DTHC/handling in Ukraine port in compare to containers;

 

– there are no risks for demurrage/detention after arrival cargo to Ukraine;

 

– you can sign contracts with seller of EXW/FCA terms and not depend on their plans for containers stuffing – cargo will be picked up fast by trucks.

 

 

Disadvantages:

 

– some sellers do not want to change anything – thus it takes time to agree with them such an option;

 

– handling such shipments is way more difficult than container shipments – thus you need reliable/experience partner;

 

– cargo to be stowed in proper bags/big bags etc for bulk shipments;

 

– average transit time from China to Ukraine about 40-45 days.
